Documentary films are sights on the real world. The author, from his point of view, transcribes his perception with cinematographic tools. Although the “truth” given by an author will always be relative nobody can contest it. However two different definition of the notion of point of view on the reality can be given. Some authors will think that they have to make films about their deep believes to deliver a message, to militate. But this option scrambles the device from the beginning because the author will look for subjects and writing styles that will allow him to deliver its message.
We’d rather want to work with author who, facing a reality, will immerse themselves into it and try to understand its complexity to finally transcribe and expose it with their own sensitivity and history. From our point of view, the purpose of making documentary films is to enrich people by bringing him knowledge, novel insights. We are not looking to produce films made to convince people or trying to define what is wrong and what is right. Every reality has its complexity even the most unfair or the most irrational ones. The substance of a documentary film, as we apprehend it, is to testify so the audience can with its own feelings orient his reflexion, built his own opinion. Our satisfaction is to make the audience think, ask himself questions, open himself on the world that surrounds him.
More than writing an editorial scope in terms of « who » and « what », we will rather focus our attention on « how » and « why », meaning the quality but also the novelty of the device and writing you will submit to us. A soon as your project aims these scopes, being a biography, a scientific, ethnologic or historical film, it may interest us.
We are particulary interested in the development of projects for the international market, as working with foreign authors and producers who wish to set up a partnership with a french independant production compagny like our.
Above all, we want to work with authors. This human relationship is at the heart of our initiative. Being a young filmmaker or a confirmed one, our focus will be to do everything possible so you can achieve your project as you have it in your mind.
