Synopsis : The paint tubes have lost their caps. The paint pots are leaking into bigger pots. The frames are piling up against a big picture window. Beyond them we can see the roofs of Paris, beneath the rain. We are in the workshop of a painter, exactly as we would imagine it – a place most of us will never visit. Turning to the side, we see Benjamin Bruneau. He paints here all day …and all night long. Gradually, layer after layer, as the film progresses, time becomes unreal, infinite. If the workshop gives an impression of calm, the life of the painter is rather chaotic. The paintings reflect the uncertainty of the life of the artist. Benjamin is indeed fighting to survive to reach his goal: to succeed in the market of contemporary art. He still has to prove himself and to affirm his own identity. On this long and winding road his best weapon is his sense of humor! Benjamin continues going forward despite all opposition, with his doubts, his dreams, and his endless enthusiasm. And like him, against the tide we will try to conquer his daily life.
